As part of its drive to better serve its customers across all regions, Smith Power Equipment, an importer and distributor of leading global agricultural machinery, turf equipment and off-road vehicles, has appointed Jetsport as the new dealer for its Linhai and Polaris ranges of off-road vehicles in Bloemfontein.
Effective July 1 this year, Jet Sport is now the authorised dealer of the Linhai and Polaris ranges of off-road vehicles in Bloemfontein, the capital of the Free State province in South Africa. The company, which also offers trail rides and day outrides, will supply the full range of both Polaris and Linhai all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and sides-by-sides.

Heneways, one of the leading freight management and logistics operators in South Africa, has taken delivery of the Baoli KBE 25 electric forklift from Smith Power Equipment, a South African importation and distribution company representing leading global equipment brands.
For internal warehouse usage to handle food grade products in its facility, Heneways went into the market for an electric forklift. Paul Hulley, Warehouse & Distribution Manager at Heneways, says the KBE 25 ticked all the right boxes for the freight management company. However, its competitive pricing against other brands in the local market, complemented by the aftermarket support reputation of Smith Power Equipment, largely influenced the buying decision.
Toro Houghton Golf Club is deemed one of South Africa’s premier golfing venues. To keep standards high, a meticulous turf maintenance regime ensures the course’s unmatched aesthetic appeal and overall playability. To be able to achieve these maintenance goals, the green-keeping team has standardised its fleet on Smith Power Equipment-supplied Toro machines in recent years with great results.
Course playability is what every golfer dies for. High-performing greens, visual appeal and tee positioning that accommodates varying abilities, are among some of the key considerations that every golfer puts on their priority list. However, achieving and maintaining those attributes is a full-time job requiring agronomic expertise, experience, and a well-trained crew.

In a multi-faceted joint venture, Japan’s leading tractor manufacturer, Kubota Corporation, will jointly develop and manufacture utility tractors with Escorts Limited of India. The two companies will jointly sell the range in India, while Kubota will export to selected international markets, including South Africa.
Ahead of NAMPO 2019 – to be held between 14 and 17 May at Bothaville in the Free State – local farmers will be glad to know that Smith Power Equipment will soon be adding a new utility tractor brand to be jointly developed and manufactured by Kubota and Escorts in India.
The significance of preventative maintenance in the capital equipment equation cannot be reiterated enough. Benefits abound and include operator and machine safety, machine efficiency and time savings, among others. All these point towards one direction – optimal total cost of ownership (TCO).
One of the key drivers in the TCO calculation is the frequency and costs associated with unplanned maintenance, or as everyone experiences it, breakdowns. Modern equipment is becoming increasingly complex, and with this increase in complexity, comes increased risks associated with breakdowns.
T-Boss 410: This is Linhai’s replacement for the venerable Rebel of which hundreds have been sold into the South African market. Experience has taught that Linhai is a pretty decent, well-established brand with a strong presence in SA and excellent parts and service backup. We took one for a trundle.
“Guys, this unit is sold – please take it easy!” . That was the directive from Smith mining, the importers of this brand. So we did and we used it for its intended purpose with a lil ride from our offices into the surrounding farmlands.
