The backhoe loader, better known as the TLB in our local circles, has always been deemed the trusted ‘pick and shovel’ of the local construction industry, and continues to dig its way onto local sites. However, in line with global trends, the compact excavator is continuously digging for a sizeable share of the market as the move towards compact solutions on African sites continues to gain pace.
The ever-growing trend towards smaller construction equipment is at this point anchored by mature markets, where about 70% of total equipment sales are driven by compact ranges. In Africa, the opposite is true; 75-80% of machines sold are still heavy ranges. However, there is a gradual growth of smaller machines in Africa.
Kubota’s new L-series of compact tractors, with their simplified operation and smoother performance, enables a farmer to be more productive as well as more comfortable. The tractors also offer improved fuel efficiency, thanks to greater air flow into the combustion chamber.
Kubota is taking compact tractors to an entirely new level with its new L-Series, which features the L1361, L1421 and L1421 HST.
“The series represents not only a performance enhancement, but refreshed design that increases visibility and allows jobs to be done more easily, better and faster than with standard models,” says Dieter Bergmann, national sales manager of Kubota in South Africa.
