In line with an increasing number of farmers throughout the country, Kakamas’s Chargo Trust – owners of table grape farms Dassie Rand, Avignon and Sonvrucht Boerdery (all in Northern Cape’s Upington area) – has changed from a very well-known brand of tractors to Kubota.
“The difference between the other brand and Kubota has been significant for us,” says Avignon manager Pierre van Dyk. “The Kubotas have been much more fuel efficient and generally the running costs are altogether lower.”
It took something special for Jan Vermeulen, owner of Piekniet Farm in Koster, North West Province, to buy his first new Kubota tractors! It came in the form of Kubota tractors and the service of Kubota dealer, Maubra Utility Products (MUP).
Kubota is distributed in South Africa by Smith Power Equipment.
“The service of MUP was, and remains, outstanding,” says Vermeulen. “In fact I have to say I have never had such service and the Kubota tractors are all that they promised. They are fuel efficient, powerful and easy to operate. These are the first new tractors I have ever bought and I am glad I did as, instead of costing me money as I thought new tractors would, they are an investment which will definitely save me money over the lifetime of the tractors.”
The patrolling of the Kruger National Park (KNP)’s terrain keeps evolving as the Ranger Corps received 10 quad vehicles; as part of the ‘ground mobility’ capacity and support in the anti-poaching operations inside the Park today, 14 September 2015. Funding for six of the quad vehicles was made possible through the US based Howard G Buffet Foundation (HGBF).
“We continue to be invaded by well-equipped poachers that aim to illegally capitalize on our rhino on daily basis. For as long as this scourge continues at the rate it is on at the moment, we need to continuously equip our Rangers with the latest field equipment available; including the all-terrain vehicles such as these to enhance their effectiveness,” said KNP’s GM: Communications and Marketing, William Mabasa Continue reading Kruger National Park Gets Polaris Ranger for Patrol→

Say the word “Kubota” and one probably thinks of world-class, powerful, durable and efficient tractors in a range of sizes. While this is of course true, Kubota also means a host of other state-of-the-art machinery including the popular Kubota ZG227 Zero-Turn ride-on mower.
It is this mower that has proved to be the perfect solution for mowing the extensive lawns at Boshof Solar Park (BSP), an enormous 66MW solar farm on the doorstep of the tiny Free State town which will sell electricity to Eskom to relieve pressure on the national grid.
